Hi All,
Well, we made it and got through the first week. It took a bit to get off the ground at Dulles due to some mechanical problems. We were stuck for just shy of 2 1/2 hours. But once we got airborne it was a go. We were able to make up some of the time through our connection in Japan and was only about an hour late coming in to Singapore.
We’re here at the Fraser Suites, which is a serviced residence. Nice, I don’t have to make the beds or clean the bathrooms
It’s a mini one-bedroom apartment with washer and dryer so actually the other day it felt like “home” since I needed to do some ironing. Nothing like ironing to make you know you’re domestic.
I’m afraid that I don’t have any pictures to show you yet. I can’t download them to my laptop because the plugs are all different and my laptop doesn’t have a lot of charge to sit and wait for the camera to download the pics, not because of the different plugs! I’m writing from the computers in the business center. Nice to have and convenient to use but not the same.
We’ve been assigned our apartment. They needed to get approval for the rent because it was higher than the allotment but it’s a go. Now the landlord will get it ready for occupancy, paint, clean, etc. We have this temporary apartment til Oct 24th so we may need to stay here til then. But I shouldn’t complain since once we move to the permanent quarters… the maid service turns to ME
Just wanted to say, “Hello!” to everyone for now. I miss you all. I will post another blog entry with more interesting news of our first week. We did do quite a bit over the weekend.
More to come… check back…
